New Asix.Evo 9

We inform you that on 23rd December 2016 the new 9 version of Asix package is issued. It is the next step in over 20-year-old software evolution of Asix – a software for development and execution of SCADA/HMI/MES industrial IT systems.

The version 9 gives the possibility to design GIS map diagrams. That opens Asix to the new type of systems called ‘GeoSCADA’, which refer to industrial objects with a high level of geographic dispersion. Such systems are crucial for control and supervision processes in industrial or distribution grids, primarily in gas engineering, water and wastewater management, energy engineering, transportation or telecommunications. Synoptic diagrams based on the GIS mechanism allow to locate efficiently selected parts of the plant, entered on the map using easy-to-find coordinates, and to diagnose the state of their work remotely. The system operator in a central dispatch room gets an insight into the operation of the entire installation, regardless of its location on the geomap. It reduces the time required to identify alarm conditions dramatically, even in the geographically remotest object branches and allows for rational management of intervention services.

The purpose of GIS diagrams is to display elements on geographic maps. Maps are from OpenStreetMap service and may be downloaded online from the Internet or offline from the local buffer prepared earlier by the application designer. Visualization elements (markers, broken lines, areas, texts or pictures) may be placed on GIS diagrams. Both application designer and its user (operator) may freely control the visibility of chosen diagram layers. It is also possible to fill in layers with elements automatically, based on geographic data obtained from MS SQL databases.

To meet the trend of ensuring maximal control of working state in modern large industrial systems, the version 9 provides the mechanism of centralized control of working state for stations in multistation applications. This mechanism assigns the ‘diagnostics server’ role to one of servers and activates sending all diagnostic data to this server from other stations. In addition, the access to information on each station operation is possible from any station of the system. Such knowledge increases the safety of entire installation and provides immediate detection of irregularities in the operation of stations.

To increase the efficiency of supervision and control of industrial object technological data, Asix.Evo 9 brings the ability to use additional options to tighten the authentication of application users. With this solution, it is possible to control the length and complexity of password and the frequency of its changes.

The version 9 has also been enriched with a new communication driver – S7Opt. The driver enables communication with the latest generation of Siemens PLCs: S7-1500 and S7-1200 (since firmware 4.0), using symbolic names of PLC variables. PLCs are serviced in an innovative development environment by Siemens – TIA Portal. S7Opt enables the Asix system to provide symbolic addressing the process variables declared in S7-1500 / S7-1200 PLCs by the authors of PLC software. It eliminates errors associated with absolute addressing the data in PLC memory as well as improves efficiency of communication PLC – Asix. In addition, Asix gives you the ability to generate the variable definition database based on variable declarations contained in the S7-1500 / S7-1200 PLC software. This ensures application designer maximum comfort and reduces the time needed to prepare the variable definition database.
