Redundancy
asix was designed having in mind control systems application, that's why so much emphasis is put on the system operation stability, mechanisms for internal control of individual modules operation, and redundancy support minimizing effects of hardware failures. In particular, standard asix license is prepared to create the redundant structure according to the “hot backup” scheme, when two (or more) computer supervision stations connect with the process through separate communication channels, conducting an independent process data acquisition and archiving and keeping their own copy of the settled events and alarms log. Such a set up of twin asix stations, connected via Ethernet network, is resistant to failures including:
-
failure of the physical communication channel with a process – a station with this malfunction type automatically switches to data acquisition from the twin station through the Ethernet network and still two equivalent supervision stations will operate
-
failure of the supervision station – until the computer repair, the process is supervised by the single station; when the computer restores its full operability, an automatic merging (synchronization) of the data archive contents and the events and alarms log is performed.
The enhanced reliability mode is supplied as a standard functionality within each asix server license.
